TEACHING ARTIST WORK
Since 2016 after leaving a corporate day job as a Legal Recruiter, Amy was introduced to the Teaching Artist world by the wonderful Atlantic Theater Company. In 2017, in connection with being a playwright-in-residence at Abingdon Theatre Company, she collaborated with Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble and Manhattan International High School to curate an original play called Catch Me In America. The play addressed current issues brought to light by the Trump administrations Muslim ban, and students were able to perform their play and see professional actors perform their words. Both students and actors came together in community for a culminating event.
In 2018 she helped Strike Anywhere create the storytelling project, Windows in Mirrors in connection with Alex Porter at the International High School for Health Sciences. She also has brought creativity and playwriting workshops into public schools through her work with Manhattan Theatre Club, Roundabout Theatre Club, Broadway Serves, and Strange Sun Theatre.
